NTC, in line with the collective policy of the State, adopts a systematic program to improve performance and build human resource capacities. Thus, NTC accomplished numerous studies and consultations to capture new technologies and methods in the ICT sector through the exchange of expertise with pioneer nations. Detailed studies has been carried out on the technical and economical aspects of the Next Generation Networks beside specialised training courses. Studies and consultations were executed in the following fields:
- Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
- Number Portability.
- Carrier Selection.
- Building reference models for different service tariffs.
- Checking NTC policies and rules against international practice.
- Visits to regulatory authorities of India and Morocco.
As the academic and scientific establishment is an important source of knowledge to develop the sector, the academic sector was involved by delivering Master Degree courses in relevant topics of Information and Communications technologies and policies. Specialized workshops were also conducted by different academic sources.
Reasearch and studies sector has contributed to the NTC web site by some technical and economical papers.
The IGAD has financed an expert to conduct an inclusive study of the market status quo in Sudan to enable of a future vision. This year will witness the execution of a comprehensive survey to determine ICT indicators.
On the other hand, the World Bank has financed an NTC cooperative program with some international experts that concluded a 5-year medium term startegy as a pilot to regulate the sector in the coming years.
